Fees

Fees

Hospital in Home is a bulk billing practice for patients who hold a current Medicare Card. This means that eligible patients will not be charged for their appointments — Medicare covers the full cost.

Patients who do not have a Medicare Card will be required to pay fees for consultations and any associated services. Payment is required at the time of your appointment.

Fee-paying patients with a Medicare card (who may not be eligible for bulk billing) are entitled to a Medicare rebate. This rebate is processed electronically at the time of payment and is usually deposited into your nominated bank account within 48 hours.

Who is eligible for bulk billing

  • All patients with a current Medicare Card

  • Children under 12 years of age

  • Age pensioners

  • DVA (Department of Veterans’ Affairs) patients

Who is eligible for concessional rates?

Concession and Health Care Card holders.

Practice Consultation Fees (without a current Medicare Card)

Fees vary depending on patient type, appointment type and length, and any additional procedures performed.

Standard feeMedicare rebate
Standard Consultation (5-15 minutes) $100.00$100.00
Long Consultation (15-30 minutes)$145.00$145.00
Extended Consultation (30-45 minutes)$210.00$210.00

Additional Procedure Fees

In some instances, you may require a procedure which attracts additional fees, covering consumables and treatment.

These procedures may include:

  • Implanon, IUD or Mirena insertion or removal
  • Excisions – $110 each
  • Iron infusions – $182.90 + pharmacy cost (Medicare rebate of $82.90 applies)
  • Specialised tests, including specialised blood tests
  • Other procedures

Additional procedure fees apply to all patients and are not bulk billed. They are payable on the day of your appointment.

Excision fees are payable on the day stitches are removed.

Medicare rebates apply for some, but not all, additional procedures.

For all procedures with no fee listed above, the doctor, nurse or the reception staff will notify you of the out-of-pocket fees which apply prior to treatment.

WorkCover Claims

Patients who have sustained an injury at work and would like to obtain a medical certificate to lodge a WorkCover claim will be charged an upfront fee for the initial consultation.

Patients can claim this fee back by submitting the receipt to WorkCover or directly to the employer.

Once patients have a WorkCover claim number, all subsequent appointments will be billed to WorkCover or the employer directly, with no fees required from the patient, provided that the relevant WorkCover claim number is provided at each appointment.

Notice of annual fee review

Hospital in Home strive to keep our fees as affordable as possible in order to be accessible when our patients need us.
In order to align ourselves with the annual Medicare rebate increase, we review our fees in July each year.
Notice of changes to fees will be included in our newsletter and posted online and in reception.

If you have any questions regarding fees, please contact us on (07) 4169 0050 or email hih@salusgroup.com.au
